Auditions and Standards
There are no auditions for the choir or orchestra. Selection procedures occasionally have to be applied in relation to any over-subscribed woodwind and brass seats in the orchestra and we run a waiting list for these seats. Orchestra members are expected to learn their parts, for which they will usually need to have reached Grade 8 or thereabouts.
If you would like to join either our choir or orchestera please contact us here, and a member of the committee will get back to you as soon as possible.
Alternatively feel free to come along to the beginning of one our rehearsals to have a chat.
Rehearsals
Orchestra rehearsals take place every Tuesday between September and June/July, from 19:00-21:30 at our rehearsal space at St Pancras Church Hall, Church House, Lancing Street (off Eversholt Street), London, NW1 1NA.
Choir rehearsal take place every Thursday between September and June/July from 19:00-21:00 at Church Hall of the Welsh Church of Central London, 30 Eastcastle Street, London, W1W 8DJ.
Cost of membership
As an organisation we do not receive any external funding and all of our costs are covered by subscriptions and ticket sales. Our annual subscription for 2024 onwards is £240 when paid in advance for orchestra and choir members (working out at around £7 per rehearsal). We believe this is good value when compared to other comparable Central London musical organisations whilst maintaining high levels of music. Our rate for students (including those undertaking a LLM/SQE/LPC/BPTC/is just £45 per year or £15 per term. Subscriptions are payable at the beginning of our year in September and members are encouraged to make their payments through Gift Aid. Whilst we encourage everyone who can to pay the full yearly subscription for membership (given this is mainly how we fund our activities), we are happy to discuss a discounted or termly rate for those less able to pay the full rate and, if this is the case, please register using the link above but also get in touch with your choir/orchestra membership secretaries.
Music is generally provided free of charge.
